Tackling the public and private sector challenges in whistleblowing

Whistleblowing Challenges in Public and Private Sectors: Whistleblower protection is essential to encourage reporting misconduct, fraud and corruption. The risk of corruption is significantly heightened in environments where reporting wrongdoing is not supported or protected. This applies to both public and private sector environments, especially in bribery cases: Protecting public sector whistleblowers facilitates the reporting of passive bribery, as well as the misuse of public funds, waste, fraud and other forms of corruption. Meanwhile, protecting private-sector whistleblowers facilitates reporting active bribery and other corrupt acts committed by companies.
